Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and Wife Anita Finally spilt up!

Wife of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, founder of Christ Embassy Church, Anita, has finalized divorce proceedings in the United Kingdom. A statement released by her legal solicitors in the UK reads:

Pastor Chris and Anita

“We have been requested by Anita Oyakhilome to confirm that on February 8, 2016 a decree absolute was pronounced in the High Court of Justice Principal Registry of the Family Division dissolving her marriage to Christian Onehirokpeana Oyakhilome. Anita Oyakhilome would like to confirm that she is no longer involved in or part of Christ Embassy always known as Believers Loveworld Inc.”

News broke in 2014 that Anita reportedly made the first move to severe ties from her estranged husband by filing for divorce in a London court citing irreconcilable differences as reason for her decision.

Following the controversy, the ministry pulled down her profile from the church’s website, and her name was conspicuously missing from ‘Rhapsody of Realities’, a devotional she co-authored with her husband for many years. Anita, who later took to blogging, wrote on her self-titled blog, www.pastoranita.org, messages which suggested that her marriage to the pastor was rocky and abusive.

Anita and Chris were married in 1991 and have two daughters. She has since reverted to her maiden name: Anita Ebhodaghe

Oh no! This is too difficult to believe. Simply unbelievable! A married pastor (names withheld) and the choir mistress of the church he's pastoring were caught LIVE having sex inside the church in broad daylight.

Those who caught the shameless duo were said to have recovered more than 24 sachet of condom under the carpet beside the church alter. WHAT!! Of a truth, is it people like this that gives Christians bad name.

White man makes Eba with coal pot in an uncompleted building.

Could be very funny seeing a white man do somethings meant exclusively for Naija people.

Making of Eba should be one of those things, and nobody in the world can take that from us. see how this man takes charge of that kitchen, almost like a professional full house wife(I just hope most people are aware that's a profession in Nigeria. LMAO.

Pastor Bath for Married Woman in the Name of Praying and Annointing

According to this gist

, a man in Ghana, who claimed to be a pastor, went on a bathing spree on another man's wife in order to anoint her and probably cleanse or free her of her troubles.

Though we could not confirm this gist but one thing that comes to mind is this, must a pastor uncloth another man's wife in order to pray, anoint or perform any miracle on her?

Why would a married woman stoop so low just because of miracle? Is this really the signs of endtime? What do you think?

Mimiko approves N22,000 minimum wage

Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko said on Thursday that he had approved N22, 000 as minimum wage for all categories of civil servants in the state, starting from April.

Mimiko stated this in Akure, at a seminar organised by the South-West zone of the Nigeria Civil Service Union.

The seminar had as its theme, ‘Building Robust Workplace Relationship for Union Executives and Management in the Public Service.’

The governor announced that 290 vehicles would soon be distributed to the 18 local government councils to boost public transportation.

He said, “You will all recall that the Federal Government last August approved the payment of N18, 000 as minimum wage to Nigerian workers.

“In Ondo State, we started our own from July and today, I want to inform you of my approval last night, the payment of N22, 000 as minimum wage in Ondo State with effect from April 2012.”

He said the decision was borne out of his administration’s desire to make life more meaningful to its workers and the masses.

Egba High Chief, Oluwole Olumide, jumps into lake, dies •Amosun, Daniel, Osoba react

AN Egba High Chief, Chief Oluwole Olumide, on Friday evening at about 8.30 pm committed suicide by jumping into the artificial lake within the vicinity of the controversial Abeokuta Golf Resort.

Sunday Tribune learnt that the deceased who was also the Balogun Imo, until recently, was the Chief Promoter of the Golf Place, before the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of the place was revoked by Senator Ibikunle Amosun- led government based on the recommendation of the Judicial Panel of Enquiry, which was set up to investigate issues relating to land matters and allocations during the last administration.

The late Olumide, who would have clocked 70 years in May, was said to have been driven to the Golf Beach Resort by his driver.

Sunday Tribune gathered from a source that the deceased had directed his driver to call his steward. However, before the duo returned, his whereabouts could not be traced.

It was further gathered that his pair of shoes was found at the lakeside after efforts to reach him on phone to ascertain where he was failed.

The source said, “”When the driver returned to the lakeside, his whereabouts could not be traced, but his pair of shoes was found at the bank of the lake.

“Initially, the duo did not suspect any foul play, even though they attempted to reach him on phone after combing the vicinity of the beach.

“When the driver and the steward could not find their master, they alerted his family members who arrived at the scene shortly after.”

When Sunday Tribune visited the scene, scores of symphatisers were seen at the entrance of the Golf Resort Place, while officials of the Nigeria Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) mounted security around the premises.

It took the intervention of local divers to bring out Olumide’s lifeless body from the artificial lake before it was taken away in the NSCDC ambulance marked CIVIL DEFENCE CD 1041A to the Neuropsychiatric Hospital Morgue.

Former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, was one of the early callers at the scene.

Osoba, in company of the senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Gbenga Obadara, described his death as unfortunate.

Osoba said, “It is unfortunate. His body has just been recovered by local fishermen and put in an ambulance. I cannot say much now, I leave everything to God.”

It would be recalled that the deceased was last week interrogated by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on issues relating to the allocation of land of the entire Abeokuta Golf Place.

As at the time of this report, no suicidal note was seen by the family while his colleagues at the palace of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland were said to be meeting over the ugly development.

When Sunday Tribune visited the deceased’s house (Toria House) on Shonekan Street, off Ogundimu, Ita-Eko, Abeokuta, a condolence register had been opened.

Sympathisers were seen discussing in groups within the premises of the building.

The Ogun State government in its reaction described the death of Olumide as shocking.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Taiwo Adeoluwa, said “the Ogun State Government has received with shock the news of the death of Apagun Oluwole Olumide, a prominent citizen of the state who is said to have died last night.

“Governor Ibikunle Amosun is saddened by this development and on behalf of himself, the government and the good people of Ogun State, hereby commiserates with the entire Olumide family, his friends and associates and prays that God gives them the fortitude to bear the loss.”

In his condolence letter to the family of the deceased, former governor of the state, Chief Gbenga Daniel, said that the country and the state had lost a great icon and promoter of tourism.

He prayed for the repose of his soul.

The letter reads, “On behalf of myself, and family, I wish to commiserate with you on the unfortunate demise of our friend and brother, Arc Wole Olumide, the Apagunpote of Egbaland.

“In Apagun, I do believe that our state and our country have lost an icon, and a major promoter of tourism, entrepreneurship and economic development of our people and of Egbaland in particular.

“In fact I am tempted to rate Apagun as a modern day Lisabi or Sodeke when I consider some of his silent but very effective contribution to his immediate Environment. As Governor, Apagun as he was fondly called encouraged us to do a lot of work in Abeokuta.

“Together we conceptualized the development of Olumo Rock as an International Tourist Centre that it has become today.

“Together, we conceptualized and developed the new Lalubu Road as our own ‘Broad street’ and commercial nerve centre in Abeokuta.

“Together, we conceptualized the new Abeokuta Central Business District, which we christened the Abeokuta City Centre and he actually designed and supervised the new OPIC Plaza, the tallest building in Ogun State and second tallest in the old Western region, next only to the Cocoa House in Ibadan, within this future City Centre.

“All these pale into insignificance when we evaluate his contribution to the development of Abeokuta Golf Course, the Waterfalls, Hotel, and Rather ironically the Artificial Lake where Apagun died yesterday. For Apagun the Golf project was his life probably in the last 2 decades or more, and through this project, he became the single biggest promoter of Tourism by the volume of high net worth individuals that visited the State while it lasted.

“Nationally, Apagun designed the National Ecumenical Centre, i e the best Christian Worship Centre in Abuja. On occasions like this all we can do is pray that God in his infinite mercies will give the family the grace and fortitude to bear this great loss. Adieu, Apagun. Rest in perfect peace.”

The Ogun State Police Command in a statement signed by the new state commissioner of Police, Mr. Okoye Ikemefuna, said that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), had commenced investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.

The CP said that no mark of violence was observed on his body after it was recovered from the lake.

He confirmed that the late Olumide went to the lakeside of the Resort with his driver at about 7.30pm and later sent him on an errand to his house located at Ita-Eko, Surulere area of Abeokuta.

The police statement said, "Available information has it that the deceased went to the lakeside of the Resort behind the State Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, with his driver at about 19.30hrs.

"He later sent his driver back on errand to his house at Ita- Eko, Surulere area of Abeokuta.

"When the driver came back, the chief could not be located but his shoes and cap where found by the lakeside.

"A search party was immediately drafted to the scene. The search continued till about 01hrs of 17 March, 2012 without success.

"However, at about 6hrs, the search resumed and the body of the deceased was recovered at about 9hrs. The body was viewed and no mark of violence was observed."

Bankers go on strike in Ogun

Banks in Ijebu and Remo divisions of Ogun State have embarked on indefinite strike because of the porous security situation in the state.

The state, in recent times, had been the abode of armed robbers, who raid banks and get away with the loot.

The chairman, Ijebuland Bankers’ Forum, Mr Olusegun Olusoga, who disclosed this on Wednesday at a press conference in Abeokuta, said the action became necessary in view of the spate of robbery cases in the state.

He lamented the "slow motion" attitude of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration to put in place adequate security equipment that could be used in combating the menace of armed robbery.

He wondered why the state government had not provided the Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and deployed the patrol vans parked within the premises of the state secretariat in Abeokuta to the banks in the state.

Olusoga further said that banks should desist from rendering skeletal services to customers while the strike lasted, warning bank staff to stay away from bank premises until their demands were met by the state government.

The chairman also warned against loading of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) until further directive from the forum.

He said, “any robbery attack arising as a result of the culpability of any bank shall be viewed as connivance and collaboration with the robbers.

“We would not defend or issue any statement to absolve any bank official who, out of carelessness, allows his bank to be robbed through the revdering of skeletal services.”

In the same vein, bankers in Sagamu division of the state have been directed to proceed on indefinite strike.

The chairman, Sagamu Bankers’ Forum, Mr Tunde Onadeko, said his members had resolved to throw their weight behind their colleagues in Ijebu division.

police commenced investigation into the abduction of Mrs. Jumoke Oyegbola

The police have commenced investigation into the abduction of Mrs. Jumoke Oyegbola on Tuesday night by unidentified men at Isheri-North area of Ogun State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that on Tuesday, around 9pm, Oyegbola was on her way to a friend’s house at River View Estate, Isheri North LSDPC, in her Mitsubishi Montero car, when some gunmen blocked the road in front of her vehicle and started shooting in the air indiscriminately before dragging her out of her car.

It was gathered that the victim’s car was later discovered by the roadside, less than 200 metres from the scene of the incident.

Her belongings were still in the car, fuelling speculation that she might have been kidnapped.

It was learnt that the family had informed the police and investigations had commenced.

Our correspondent, who visited the scene of the incident on Thursday, learnt from residents that because of the absence of functional street lights in the area, hoodlums easily perpetrated crimes at night.

A bricklayer, Mr. Shina Adeyeye, said the area was dangerous at night. He said, “I have a building project I am working on in the area, but once it is 6:30pm, my workers close for the day because we know that the area is not safe once it is dark. I even heard that a child was also kidnapped here last year.”

A security guard at Tinubu Estate, who craved anonymity, said although vigilantes operated at night and policemen usually carried out routine patrols, the absence of street lights in the area made it susceptible to crimes.

It was also learnt that because the scene where the abduction took place is a boundary between Lagos and Ogun State, policemen from the two commands would collaborate to locate the victim.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Joseph Jaiyeoba, who confirmed the incident, faulted earlier media reports that it was the Lagos Command that would investigate the incident.

Jaiyeoba said, “The incident did not occur under the Lagos jurisdiction but under Ogun. I inquired from the Divisional Police Officer, Isheri, and he told me the case was not being handled by his division.

“Nevertheless, because of its proximity to Lagos State, our command will partner with the Ogun command on the case.”

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Command, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, however, told our correspondent on the telephone that the case was being treated as abduction rather than kidnap.

“It is true that one Jumoke Oyebola was abducted by gunmen on Tuesday night. We cannot describe the case as that of kidnap because to our knowledge, no ransom has been demanded for now, we are treating it as a case of abduction,” he said.

South Africa bows, apologises to Nigeria

After one week of diplomatic stand off, the South-African government, on Thursday, apologised to the Federal Government for deporting 125 Nigerians from the country on March 2. The Nigerian travellers were deported for allegedly presenting fake yellow fever vaccination cards.

The Nigerian government, which disputed the claim and took reciprocal actions to show its displeasure, said on Thursday that it had accepted the apology.

Nigeria had deported a total of 131 South Africans before the resolution of the row. Some reports had also claimed that South Africa had deported an additional 25 Nigerian travellers in retaliation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru, who announced the end of hostilities, at a Press Conference, in Abuja, said machinery had been put in motion to ensure a permanent truce.

Ashiru said, “Today, I can confirm to you that I have received a letter from the South African Foreign Minister apologising for the course of action and the deportation of 125 Nigerians last week.

“What it means is that, for you gentlemen of the press, we have reached the end of the exchange of statements between the time this incident happened and today.

“On behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria and of course, of the President, I, as the Foreign Minister, will accept the apology; I will be sending a letter back to my counterpart in South Africa, accepting the apology of the South African government.

“And thereafter, we will move quickly to ensure that we put machinery in place so that it will be a lasting solution because we don’t want this to happen again in the course of our bilateral relations.”

While giving an insight into the letter, the Minister said, “In the letter, the South African government promised to dispatch a special envoy as soon as possible to come and visit Mr. President, and to also convey the apology of the South African government.”

According to him, the ministry was already making arrangements for President Goodluck Jonathan to receive the Special Envoy “within the next couple of days.”

He also noted that the South African government and Nigeria’s High Commission in that country issued a joint press statement, in Pretoria, South Africa, earlier in the day.

Ashiru said as part of the truce, other remedial measures, the details of which were still being worked out, would be taken.

He noted, “Other measures will be taken to ensure that our relations are normal and that all the causes of irritation in our relations are removed.”

Also, the minister said, “The major thrust (of the statement) is that, we have both agreed to reconvene immediately, the Bi-national commission between our two countries.”

The Nigeria-South Africa Bi-national Commission is headed by the Vice-Presidents of the two countries.

Issues to be discussed at the Commission’s meeting will include but not limited to political, economic and commercial, immigration, consular, and security matters.

It is expected that after the meeting, a comprehensive framework will be put in place to deter officials from maltreating Nigerians.

Earlier, the Department of International Relations, Republic of South Africa, and the Nigeria High Commission in Pretoria, had issued a joint press statement.

After reviewing the situation, both countries said in the statement:

“The governments of South Africa and Nigeria view these developments in a serious light. Accordingly, the two countries have, through diplomatic channels, consulted at the highest levels on ways of avoiding a recurrence of such developments.

“Furthermore, the South African government has sent a letter of apology to the Nigerian government following this regrettable incident which the South African government believes could have been handled better.

“Amongst other things, the two countries agree that:

“The Bi-national Commission between South Africa and Nigeria should be revived as soon as possible. There is also agreement that the immigration Working Group should also be reviewed.

“The National Department of Health and the Gauteng Health Department should reconsider re-opening the vaccination clinic at the OR Tambo International Airport so that passengers without the yellow fever card can be vaccinated upon arrival at the airport rather than be deported.”

Other issues agreed upon were that, “The South African and Nigerian Health authorities would exchange vaccine batch numbers and details about official institutions that administer the vaccine batch numbers.

“When it comes to mass deportation, it was agreed that senior officials at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (including Protocol) should be consulted by Immigration and Health officials at the Airport before undertaking such action.

“This will provide the Senior Officials the opportunity to consult with the Department before deporting large numbers of people.”

However, Ashiru appealed to Nigerians travelling abroad to obey the laws of the countries they are visiting.

“We should also look inwards when we travel abroad to conduct ourselves properly and at least, to make sure that, whatever you are doing that you are conscious of the fact that you are a Nigerian. And that people are watching you.

“While we as a government have a responsibility to protect you, you also, as Nigerians and travellers, should behave and don’t do anything that will portray Nigeria in a bad light.”

Declaring the dispute over, Ashiru said with the formal apology issued by the government of South Africa, and the acceptance of the same by Nigeria, the matter had been put to rest.

He said “I will finally say, we should put this episode behind us.

“We are going to move forward and make sure we consolidate our relations with South Africa.”

The diplomat noted that the two countries had enjoyed cordial relations over time and as such, it was important that both countries “move forward.”

Also speaking at the event, the Minister of State II, Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed, said the action taken by the Federal Government during the face off marked the beginning of a new era of tit-for-tat diplomacy.

He said, “This government is a government that cares for its citizens; it’s a government that is saying the days of the ‘Big Brother’ is over that the days of tit-for-tat are here.

“If a Nigerian is maltreated anywhere in the world, the Nigerian government will take that incident with all seriousness it deserves. It is not about South Africa as the Minister said.”

The man who has given birth three times

>Like all three-year-olds, Susan Beatie is fascinated by animals. She wants to be a vet — maybe even a vet and a princess — when she grows up.

At bedtime, she loves to climb onto her father’s knee and demand a story about a hungry caterpillar, a greedy bee or a snail sailing away on the tail of a whale.

But the book she loves most is Mister Seahorse, which explains how male seahorses become ‘pregnant’.

A quirky choice for a child, you might think, but entirely understandable given that this story has been used to explain to Susan the inexplicable: how she came to be.

‘It’s her favourite bedtime story,’ says her father Thomas, 38. ‘I tell her that’s what I did: I carried her in my tummy like Mr Seahorse, and she gets it.

‘She doesn’t think there is anything weird about it. There is a photograph of me pregnant, and she points to it all the time, saying: “Daddy, Daddy, I’m inside and I got bigger and bigger, and then I had to come out.” ’

It may sound like a particularly strange sort of fairy tale, but the story Thomas has told his daughter about her arrival in this world is true. The slightly-built martial arts instructor made history as the first ‘man’ in the world to give birth.

Of course, as Susan will doubtless discover one day, there was nothing natural about it. Male seahorses are genetically able to carry embryos: Thomas’s pregnancy was possible only because he was born female.

He was in his 20s when he underwent a sex change and became a man. He never took the final step of having a hysterectomy.

SEX WAHALA:Wife Cuts Off Husband's Penis

Husband and wife bedroom activities were discussed in the open as one Mr. Kolawole Richard begged a Lagos Court to dissolved his marriage after his wife cut off his penis with a knife.

The 28-year-old housewife, Janet Uduak, was dragged to a customary court in Lagos by her husband for using a kitchen knife to slice his penis when he attempted to have sex with her. Kolawole was seriously injured and, as a result, he cannot have erection again.

Richard asked the court to dissolve the marriage because Janet was violent and does not perform her matrimonial obligation, including allowing him to have sex with her. He disclosed that whenever he wanted to sleep with her, there was always trouble in the bedroom.

The incident happened at 19, Jagun street, Okokomaiko, on the outskirts of Lagos.

The husband tendered a photograph of his severed penis before the court. He also asked the court to grant him the custody of their only daughter.

Reacting, Janet pleaded with her husband to forgive her, promising that she will henceforth fulfil her obligation as his wife, including allowing him to have sex with her any time he wanted.

But Richard insisted that the marriage should be dissolved.

The President of the court, Mr. S. K. Hussain noted that the relationship has completely broken down. He thus dissolved the marriage and ordered Richard to pay Janet N26,000 as alimony.

CAN FATE BE MORE CRUEL?Born to deaf and dumb mum,Abandoned at birth by dad,Orphaned at 3 months,Crippled at 13,Now needs N5m to walk again,

Her case is quite pathetic. Her mum, Toyin Oladubu, a deaf and dumb woman, was impregnated by a callous man who thereafter abandoned the lady and took a walk. Three months after she was delivered of her baby, Toyin, Omolara’s mum, met her demise.

Indeed, while life treats some people graciously and lavishes them with good fortunes, it dishes out terrible blows to others, making them victims of tragic circumstances beyond their control. Poor Omolara Oladubu, 14, belongs to the latter category.

She became motherless when she was just a tot, a three-month-old. That was when her mother died, leaving her in the fragile hands of her weak and old maternal grandmother, Madam Comfort Oladubu. Till date, Omolara bears her maternal surname, Oladubu. Her father, alleged to have deserted her mother while she was still in the womb, has never been found, not to talk of being responsible for her upkeep.

Madam Oladubu, a septuagenarian, has been the one taking care of Omolara since she lost her mother in 1996. And the old woman has done quite a lot for the young girl. She has always ensured that the girl is well fed and clothed, just as she made sure that Omolara has had the best of education that she could afford, from primary to secondary school.

But then the unexpected happened. Omolara was in Basic 7 when a strange illness gripped her. According to her grandma, the girl had one day suddenly complained of a sharp pain in her left leg. Although there was no visible wound on the leg but she was groaning profusely as the pain in her leg ravaged her entire body.

The situation unexpectedly grew worse shortly after her complaints as the leg in question became swollen from the knee to the ankle. She was rushed to the hospital thereafter, and a quick x-tray was conducted on the leg. A diagnosis later revealed that she had a medical condition known as acute osteomyelitis.

Incidentally, that later turned out to be the beginning of her trauma as a myriad of health hazards soon followed.

Fighting back tears, Madam Oladubu told Daily Sun about the many steps she took to save her granddaughter. Hear her: “After the diagnosis that Omolara is having osteomyelitis, we immediately took her to a private specialist hospital at Ijanikin area of Lagos. The consultant orthopaedic surgeon there said that Omolara would be admitted and placed on anti-biotic therapy for three weeks.

But she ended up spending more than five months in the hospital and her condition was getting worse. This was even after she had undergone four surgeries. Her leg was incised to drain the pus collected therein and the resultant wound refused to heal despite series of treatments carried out on it.

“I had to request that she be discharged from the hospital and I arranged for her to be moved to another hospital in Yaba where it was diagnosed that she was also having a pathological fracture of the left tibia in addition to the wound in the leg. Raising our hope that all would soon be well, the doctor in charge made Omolara to pass through another round of three surgeries that lasted for three months after which she was discharged and placed on follow-up as an outpatient till March 2010.”

Did her condition improve? Certainly not, said her grandmother. Madam Oladubu looked sad as she replied. “No,” she said, wiping off the tears streaming down her wrinkled cheeks. A distraught Madam Oladubu continued: “At that juncture, we felt that her condition deserved a more drastic approach and we took her to the National Orthopaedic Hospital (NOH), in Igbobi in March 2010. Initially, she was attended to by Dr. Adebule who referred her to one Dr. Idowu. Dr. Idowu did his best to arrest the virus eating up her leg to no avail. Her leg was already becoming short as the virus was eating up the bones fast. She had also become crippled on the leg.

“Omolara spent four months at the NOH before she was again moved to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo where she again underwent two surgeries within two months of her admission. The last operation done by her doctor, Dr. Omale, also a Naval Commodore, appeared to be yielding positive results. It was a major operation where a bone shaft was transported from the left leg fibula and attached to the left tibia by using the papinaeu method. But no sooner was the operation done than the doctor was transferred to Warri and that hampered the effective follow-up required.”

It has been eighteen months of agonizing pain for Omolara now as her leg’s condition continues to deteriorate. She has since been out of school and would continue to be if something is not done fast. A ray of hope came recently when her family consulted an Indian consultant Orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Sanjay Vashi, via the internet, who assured that Omolara’s travails would be over as soon as she’s flown to his hospital, Hiranandani Fortis, in Mumbai, Indian, for a comprehensive surgery.

But there’s a snag; the surgery would cost a whooping N5 million. Man in trouble for raping pregnant woman

Detectives in Oyo State are currently investigating the allegation by a 38-year-old pregnant woman, Mrs. Halira Adegoke, that she was raped in a farm, by one of her neighbours, one Francis Etenikang, 32. The incident occurred at Abule Adisa area of the state.

According to the victim, Etenikang had demanded some water from her and after drinking, the suspect grabbed, wrestled her to the ground, stripped and raped her. She explained that all efforts to free herself from the grip of the randy man or get assistance from people, proved abortive.

“I sought for help but none came, as the suspect had his way and escaped on his motorcycle,” she alleged. The case was reported to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) but the officers couldn’t handle it properly, leading to the escape of the suspect. But aggrieved members of Abule Adisa community later reported the matter at the Iwerele Police Station, Oke-Ogun.

Still recalling the sad event, which traumatised her for weeks, she said: “I went to the farm with my husband and he left me in the hut. Suddenly, Francis came to beg for some water and after drinking, he barricaded the entrance to the hut and held me. When he wrestled me to the ground, he tore my pant and clothes.

I told him I was five months pregnant but he ignored and raped me. I started shouting and crying, calling my husband, Baba Iseyin! Baba Iseyin!”

“But before my husband could come, he had sped off on his motorcycle. When he came, he saw me half naked, and rushed me to the hospital for treatment. Thank God I didn’t lose the pregnancy. We reported the matter to the NSCDC but the officers didn’t handle the case very well. A community leader in Abule Adisa later reported the matter to the police,” she said. One of the community leaders, Alhaji Rasheed Badejo, condemned the act, describing the suspect as a beast.

He said: “It sounded ridiculous and unbelievable when we heard the news. We had to report the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of Etenikang. The community wants justice to be done.” The victim’s husband, Mr. Afonja Adegoke, confirmed the incident and said the suspect was one of his neighbours.

“We live together in this village. My wife and I came to the farm and she prepared a meal for me, which I ate and went to work, before I heard her, shouting. I saw my wife on the ground, half naked. He tore her clothes, including pant. I was mad and started searching for Etenikang but I found out that he had sped off on his motorcycle,” he added.

The suspect, who is being interrogated at State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), also admitted being the victim’s neighbour. He, however, denied the allegation. Etenikang said: “I was thirsty and requested water from Halira. She gave it to me and after drinking, I went away on my bike, that was all. I was later invited by the NSCDC. The officers discontinued the case, and it was reported to the police, leading to my arrest.”

It was alleged that I raped Halira, who was five months pregnant, but I didn’t touch her. I have my own four children in Cross River State. I don’t know what she is talking about.” The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Okanlawon, said the victim was actually raped. Okanlawon described the incident as unfortunate. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Moses Onireti, said the suspect would appear in court at the conclusion of investigation.

Senior civil servant commits suicide in Delta

A senior official of the Delta State Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Ike Nwaosa has allegedly committed suicide in Asaba, the state capital.

The incident was said to have happened on Sunday at his residence on Nwalie-Efedua Street, off Infant Jesus Road, Asaba.

SSS links alleged Al-Qaeda suspect to Boko Haram

State Security Service on Wednesday told an Abuja Federal High Court it would file fresh charges alleging Mallam Mohammed Ashafa has links with Boko Haram. Ashafa was also arrested in 2006 for allegedly having connection with the Al-Qaeda terrorist network.

He was released on bail after his arrest over the alleged links with Al-Qaeda, but he has since been re-arrested by the SSS, which is preparing to arraign him for allegedly being a member of Boko Haram.

The suspect is facing five counts of allegedly receiving funds from al-Qaeda operatives of the Tabliqh headquarters, in Lahore, Pakistan, for the purpose of recruiting and training terrorists to attack Americans living in Nigeria.

At a hearing on the matter on Wednesday, Ashafa, told the court that the SSS unlawfully detained him in an underground cell for seven months without arraigning him.

However, Ashafa’s claim was denied by an official of the SSS.

Ashafa, who was not represented by any counsel, pleaded with Justice Adamu Bello to remove him from the custody of the SSS and instead send him to prison.

He said, “They (SSS) arrested me about seven months ago and they have kept me in underground cell in SSS office.

“They should take me back to prison.

“They don’t have any evidence against me.

“They arrested me at the National Mosque on the 15th of August, 2011.

“They will not allow my lawyer to see me. Please take me to prison.”

However, an SSS official, who only gave his name as Idoko, denied Ashafa’s claims.

Idoko told the court that Ashafa was initially arrested, detained and charged for having a connection with al-Qaeda but has since been released on bail.

Idoko said, “He has been charged for the current offences of having connection with Boko Haram.

“It’s not been up to seven months since he was arrested.

“We initially charged him for having a relationship with Al-Qaeda, but now we arrested him in connection with his relationship with Boko Haram.

“Arrangement is being made to arraign him.”

Ruling on the matter, Bello directed the SSS to allow Ashafa access to his lawyer.

JAMB denies plans to cancel exam in Borno, others

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Wednesday denied plans to cancel the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in Borno and other states in the North due to the security challenges in the areas.

The clarification came on the heels of reports that the House of Representatives had ordered the body to shelve the plan.

JAMB, in a statement by Timothy Oyedeji on behalf of its Registrar/CEO, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, said the report originated from a deliberation on the floor of the House.

According to the statement, a member of the House, Aminu Fagge (PDP, Kano) brought the matter before the House under “a matter of urgent national importance”.

It quoted the lawmaker as saying, “The House feels saddened that JAMB saddled with the responsibility of creating a pathway for national development should deny desirous candidates access to tertiary education.”

JAMB noted that the information relied upon by the House to take the position was incorrect and unfortunate.

It also said it had always been guided by the rules, regulations and due process, hence “the board can never take a rash decision as is being portrayed”.

JAMB said, “For the avoidance of doubt, JAMB has concluded arrangements to conduct the 2012 UTME in the mentioned areas as follows:

“In Borno State, the exams will be held in four examination towns and 29 centres, Kano State: 10 examination towns and 91 centres and Yobe, three towns and 17 examination centres.

“From the foregoing therefore, the management of JAMB has not and will not contemplate the cancellation of its matriculation examination in these states.”
